Casa Le Mezzane 1 - The structure
This is an old mountain farmhouse which has been renovated to provide for our modern day comforts but which has not spoilt its impact on the surroundings where it lies.
We reach Le Mezzane along a mountain road which leads to "Mount Matanna". After going past an iron gate the road descends for about 150 metres and comes to a small pine wood where we leave the car. From here you can see the house and a lush green field where you can relax and sunbathe. The house is built on two floors with a cellar for use as a storeroom.
You climbe a few stone steps and you are under rustic porch which has a wood oven and wood storage space. From this porch there is a magnificent view across the valley with mount "Il Piglione" in the background which stands out from the rest of the mountain chain. Opposite the house there is a large Holly tree which in Autumn and Winter is covered in tiny red berries.
We enter the livingroom, completely furnished with good taste in natural chestnut wood, where there is a fireplace and woodbeen and all the necessary tongs for lighting a fire and to take the chill of the air in the late Summer or Autumn evenings.

We step into the kitchen through an arch where we find a wooden piece of furniture called a "madia" or "orcile" where our ancestors fifty years ago used to work the flour to bake their bread.
The rest of the kitchen is modern.

Each room in the house both upstairs and downstairs has two windows which give onto the valley.
Going back to the entrance-livingroom we climb about ten steps to reach a corridor, with window, which leads to the two bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Just inside the bathroom there is a washing machine.
